Town has been first mentioned as Frývaldov in the year 1267. The main expansion of town is allied with mining of gold and ore and with textile industry. World famous spa Jeseník are situated 2 km far from the centre of town. Its founder has been Vincenc Priessnitz. There are situated 30 fountain with many colonnades and spa buildings. The main spa building was built in 1910by architect Bauer. Architectonic important is also water castle Vodní hrad from 13rd century. In the middle of 16th century it was rebuilt to Renaissance chateau. Interestig is also Renaissance town-hall from 17th century or gothic church from the year 1418. Jeseník offes many possibilities for tourism and winter sports.
